Why mess around with teapots, strainers, and tea balls when drinking through a straw, the traditional South American way, is so much easier and so much more fun. These straws are ideal and will last a very long time. The bottom of the straw (the slits or holes) become the filter so you drink only the liquid and not the bits of leaf/herbs.
